Pain is a sensation that hurts. It may cause discomfort, distress, or agony. It may be steady or throbbing. It may be stabbing, aching, or pinching. It may be an amputation that leads to a significant decrease in the quality and enjoyment of life. Pain therefore varies in intensity. It may also mean greater dependence on chemical medication and other remedies.

Pain can be acute or chronic. Acute pain is severe and lasts a relatively short time. It is usually a signal that body tissue is being injured in some way; nevertheless, the pain generally disappears when the injury heals (National Cancer Institute, 1995).

Chronic pain has been defined as any pain, whatever it’s origin, that recurs or persists over an extended period of time and interferes with a person’s normal functioning.

Pain is a long established warning system of the body. Acute pain is the result of recent tissue damage. Most people become anxious when they are in pain, and this increases the pain.

When you feel anxious, your body becomes tense. The muscle tension can increase your pain. The increased pain can make you feel helpless because your ability becomes limited while you are in pain. This can cause you to become depressed. You may be caught in a cycle of stress, pain, limited abilities and depression Recognizing how your body reacts physically and emotionally to stress will enable you to break its destructive cycle.

In addition, stress-related tension can build up and also take a toll on your body. You may experience headaches, develop an upset stomach, or a disease flare up. Stress impacts the body's immune system leading to prolonged illness and fatigue.

Doctors and nurses may not be able to estimate the severity of a patient’s pain. The person with the pain is the one who knows the pain best. Don't try to hide or minimize it. Do consider the best way to deal with it by developing an acceptable combination of physical, pharmaceutical and naturopathic remedies designed to minimize its effect on your enjoyment and quality of life.

Farabloc is not a cure for chronic pain; nor is it a substitute for professional medical attention. However, research and users have testified that it is a very effective way to reduce and therefore relief the impact and debilitating effects of many forms of chronic and phantom pain and other forms of physical and psychological discomfort. It also allows the option for the sufferer to reduce reliance on intrusive chemical & other conventional pain killers.
